Department Chairperson Professor Hou Zhen-Tang (侯禎塘) and Professor Zhuang Su-Zhen
(莊素貞) led a summer study group from the Department of Special Education to visit the Nanjing Technical College of Special Education (Nanjing City, Jiangsu) from September 3rd to 8th for academic research, discussions, and exchange. This school is a key institution for training of special education teachers in China. There are 1200 students for the special education department alone and the alumni are now serving at over 1500 special education schools nationwide. The summer study group was received with warm hospitality by President Ding,
Vice President Xie, Director Tan of the Research Center, Director Yang of External Affairs, and the Chairperson of the Department of Special Education, and many teachers of the school. Several forums and seminars focusing on the subjects of training, curriculum, teaching, research, and career for development of special education teachers were held. The group also visited the Nanjing City Qinhui Special Education School; Principal Zhang led the group on a tour of the school and a discussion session. And the tour to the beautiful city spots and historical landmarks ended this journey of knowledge and sensual experiences.
