The Department of Early Childhood Education was established in 1992. The major goals of the department are to prepare early childhood teachers, to provide in-service educational programs for early childhood teacher s , and to promote the quality of early childhood education. The graduate program was established in 2003. Another evening graduate program for in-service personnel started in 2006. Both of the above programs are designed to develop specialists in early childhood education research and teaching, administration and management. The department has abundant facilities and holds a variety of activities. The annual event s include: storytelling contest , competition of teaching materials designed for young children, cheerleader competition , DO-DO public show and the Young Tree summer camp for 7 th and 8 th graders, all of which have been getting recognition from our community. There are 13 full-time faculty members in the department, including 10 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, and 2 instructors . 10 of them have doctoral degree.
