The Department of Counseling and Applied Psychology, founded in 2000, was formerly named the Graduate Institute of Counseling and Educational Psychology (GICEP). Later on, owing to the change of the environment and whole development of the school, the Department of Counseling and Applied Psychology was established on August 1 st , 2006. GICEP was then merged into the Department of Counseling and Applied Psychology. The educational goals of the department are to cultivate psychological counseling and guidance professionals, to support the teachers and staff at NTCU, to provide community counseling organizations with professional services, to aid medical institutes and enterprises in research, training, and psychological services classes, and to effectively apply principles of counseling and psychology to schools, families and enterprises in order to develop appropriate personnel training programs and bring team performance into full play. Currently, there are 6 faculty members in the department: 1 professor, 4 associate professors, and 1 instructor. 6 of the faculty members have Ph.D. degrees.
