The thirteenth Session of Jixue Lecture Series Successfully Concludes with Professor DA-NING XIE as Guest Speaker

On November 11th, the Department of Chinese Language and Literacy Education of our university specially invited Professor Xie Daning, an honorary adjunct professor of the Department of Chinese Literature and Application of Fo Guang University, to give the thirteenth lecture of the Jixue Lecture Series. The topic of the lecture was "What is Chinese Philosophy?"

Starting from the roots of "philosophy," Professor Xie gradually led everyone to new directions of thinking, clarified the boundaries between philosophy and other disciplines, and guided students to think about the definition of philosophy. This allowed people to confront the differences between Chinese and Western philosophy more directly, and to re-examine the special field of "Chinese philosophy" from another perspective, helping them realize that what is often takes for granted may not be as it seems. This process encouraged people to break free from rigid frameworks, broaden their thinking, and critically question conventional “common sense” from multiple angles.

In this lecture, Professor Xie guided teachers and students to think about the unique aspects of "Chinese philosophy" from a macro-to- micro approach, breaking down previously instilled and imprecise arguments. Professor Xie's lecture was very enlightening and left everyone wanting more.
