The " Moving Forward in the Light of Language Education — To Illuminate Oneself, To Illuminate the Universe." event of the Department of Language and Literacy Education at National Taichung University of Education (NTCU) was a complete success.

On March 17, 2026, the Department of Language and Literacy Education at NTCU cordially invited Principal Li Hsiu-mei of Taichung Municipal Dakeng Elementary School to serve as the keynote speaker for the lecture: "Moving Forward in the Light of Language Education — To Illuminate Oneself, To Illuminate the Universe."

In her sharing, Principal Li began by taking the audience back to her formative years at the teacher’s college. She heartfully reminded students that the academic stage is the critical period for "root-setting." During this time, one must master precise time management and commit to continuous self-investment. She noted that only by honing one’s resilience through solitary hard work can one stand confidently on future stages and evolve into a person of greater depth and character. This standard of self-discipline became the solid foundation for her later career as an educator and a model teacher. Principal Li mentioned that while professional knowledge is essential once one becomes a teacher, the manifestation of "wisdom" is even more vital—knowing how to offer warm comfort when students face setbacks and how to perceive a child’s inner voice are the most precious cultivations for educators.

As her career progressed, Principal Li transitioned from the classroom to administrative offices, eventually taking on the heavy responsibility of leading an entire school. Throughout her journey in administration and as a principal, she demonstrated exceptional execution and innovation. She shared how she revamped library spaces, transforming static bookrooms into attractive "palaces of reading," and systematically promoted reading initiatives to let the fragrance of books permeate every corner of the campus. Her colleagues and students deeply admired her strong capacity for teamwork; she did not run the race alone but led her team to dream together, turning educational ideals into tangible and outstanding achievements.

At the end of the lecture, Principal Li left the audience with a deeply moving aspiration. Addressing students in the Department of Language and Literacy Education specifically, she emphasized that education is not just a profession, but a transmission of life. She expressed her hope that every future teacher would strive to "become a source light." This light carries a dual mission: first, to illuminate oneself by maintaining passion and clarity in life; and second, to illuminate others by casting that radiance onto the life paths of students. Her vision of "igniting oneself to warm the world" provided a most touching finale to the entire presentation.
