The Department of Language and Literacy Education’s Children's Theater Concludes Successfully in Academic Year 114
The Department of Language and Literacy Education held its annual grand event—the Children’s Theater "Fairytales Are Not What You Think"—on May 5, 2026. With "Subverting Fairytales" as the central theme, students from each group brainstormed and extended the plots of well-known classic fairytales. Through continuous practice and collaboration, they delivered spectacular performances that truly shone on the day of the event.
There are four dramas in the show: The Princess Who Doesn’t Wear Glass Slippers, Is the Ugly Duckling Really a Swan?, The Big "Misunderstood" Wolf and the Three Little Pigs, and Snow White: Waiting for the Flower of Courage to Bloom. Each group showcased their ingenuity by writing original scripts and pairing them with exquisite props, using exceptional physical expression to convey the spirit and moral of the "Subverting Fairytales" theme. By adapting familiar stories, the groups addressed issues such as gender stereotypes, the search for self-worth, environmental protection, and overcoming inner darkness. Finally, under the evaluation of Professor Yi Yuan-pei from the Center for General Education and Director Chang Yung-han of the Drama Parrot Theater Troupe, the Best Script Award was presented to The Big "Misunderstood" Wolf and the Three Little Pigs. The Best Drama Awards were won by Snow White: Waiting for the Flower of Courage to Bloom and Is the Ugly Duckling Really a Swan?. The Best Props and Costumes Award went to " for The Princess Who Doesn’t Wear Glass Slippers. Best Actor awards were presented to students Chen Jia-xian, Chen Yu-en, Tsai Yun-yunr, and Xiao Yu-xuan.
The entire evening concluded in a joyful atmosphere filled with the laughter of the audience. Everyone looks forward to gathering again next year to continue writing and performing wonderful dramas, creating a joyful and heartwarming time for all attendees.
