NTCU Achieves Solid Performance in 2026 THE Impact Rankings, Ranking 201–300 Globally in SDG4 and Among Top 37% Worldwide


        Times Higher Education (THE), UK, recently announced the 2026 Impact Rankings, with a total of 1,603 universities worldwide included. Building on its participation last year, National Taichung University of Education (NTCU) has continued to make steady progress. This year, the university’s overall ranking advanced by one band compared to the previous year, placing it in the 401–600 range globally and among the top 37% of universities worldwide. Multiple SDG indicators also showed significant improvement, highlighting NTCU’s strong capabilities in both academic research and social impact.

        Among the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), NTCU demonstrated strong performance in SDG4 (Quality Education), ranking 201300 globally and improving by one band. The university is ranked No. 6 nationally (3), reflecting its continued commitment and long-term investment in this core area. This indicator covers aspects such as lifelong learning opportunities, equitable access to educational resources, and improvements in education quality. NTCU will continue to deepen its efforts in this field, steadily advancing overall educational development and teaching excellence.

        In addition, NTCU achieved notable results across multiple SDGs: SDG6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) ranked 101–200 globally and No. 3 nationally; SDG11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) ranked 301–400 globally and No. 16 nationally; SDG16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) ranked 201–300 globally and No. 6 nationally; and SDG17 (Partnerships for the Goals) ranked 301–400 globally and No. 14 nationally. Most SDG indicators showed an upward trend compared to last year, demonstrating the university’s diverse efforts in educational innovation, environmental sustainability, community engagement, and cross-sector collaboration. In particular, for SDG4, NTCU continues to position itself as an “innovative and sustainable teacher education university with smart learning at its core,” further enhancing education quality and advancing teacher education innovation.

        Looking ahead, NTCU will continue to strengthen its sustainable development governance framework, with smart education as its central focus. The university will deepen the application of AI in education, promote inclusive engagement with local communities, and collaborate with diverse domestic and international partners. Through these efforts, NTCU aims to build a sustainable education ecosystem that integrates global vision with local care, demonstrating its long-term commitment and proactive actions in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
