President Yang Szu-wei led the
delegation to visit Inner
Mongolia, P.R.C. between Aug.16
and Aug.21, and at the meantime
signed MOU with Inner Mongolia
University for the Nationalities
(IMUN). This has become a
milestone of academic connection
between NTCU and IMUN and
between Inner Mongolia and
Taiwan.
IMUN is located at Tong-Liao city known as “the
Pearl on the Grassland”, in
eastern area of Inner Mongolia.
It was set up in 1958, and
currently owns 25 teaching
units, more than 1,000 teachers,
20,000 full-time students and
318 foreign students. The
university is particularly
famous of programs of Horchin
cultural studies and Mongolian
Medicine.
On first few days, the delegation group
visited the Tongliao Museum, Ta-qing-gou
natural reserve, Zhe-li-mu horse
racing activity and many
attractions. This helped them to
widely and deeply know the
nature and culture of Tongliao
area. Then on Aug. 20th, they
formally took part in the
meeting of signing MOU and
welcomed by President Fu, Yong-chun
and other academic supervisors
of IMUN. President Yang, Prof.
Huang and Prof. Wei proposed
many ideas with regard to
launching research and teaching
programs at the university level
and the college level. After
completing signing, President Fu
especially led the group to walk
around the newly built Library
and University Museum, as the
first visiting group.
The delegation received warm and enthusiastic treatment
from IMUN. Although members of
NTCU and IMUN came from
different background, but the
common language contributed to
good communication and
conversation, and reached the
consensus of arranging new
exchange programs in the future
