Mr. Hada Okazo, a Japanese alumnus
of NTCU, has showed his talent for
literature since childhood. He
graduated from NTCU’s predecessor
institution, Taichung Normal School,
in 1936, and had taken a teaching
position at Taichung Municipal Chu
Jen Junior High School(formerly
named Saiwai Elementary School).
Later, he went back to Japan,
establishing the swallow-nest poetry
club, and under the pseudonym Hada
Gakusui he acquired a sustainable
reputation in literary and art
circles for his artistic haiku
poetry..
Being nostalgic for the glorious youthful days he
had spent at Taichung Normal School,
Mr. Hada, passing away in the end of
year 2011, had entrusted his family
with coming back his alma mater
again. His wife, Mrs. Hada Hiroko,
in the company of her family and
close friends in total of 13
members, visits NTCU on Nov. 5th
2012. They linger around the
building where Mr. Hada took classes
and enjoy the memorable exhibits at
the school history room.
Being grateful for the career preparation the
Taichung Normal School had offered
to her husband, Mrs. Hada donates
¥500,000 to fund NTCU. The donation
ceremony is hosted by Vice President
Dr. Chen-Tang Hou, with 9 attendees
of top Executives and Deans of
Colleges to witness this touching
moment,
The Hadas’ nostalgic trip makes all
of their pleasant memories relive
again, and bridges the friendship
between Taiwan-Japan once again. Mr.
Hada has set a good model for his
family and mankind, by his devotion
to literature, his gratitude to NTCU,
his affection for Taiwan, and his
concern about the humanity. His
boundless loves touch people around
him, and his spirits will survive in
everyone’s heart. |
